Chandigarh: An inmate of Faridkot jail has threatened to kill Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in a video shot inside the prison.
The prisoner, identified as Gobind Singh, also threatened the state jail minister and the Director General of Police. The video, which was purportedly uploaded on social media on May 27, has gone viral.
Gobind Singh asked the CM to “visit Harmandir Sahib and seek apology” for “making false pledges”. “Your countdown has begun”, adding “Akal Purukh has appointed me to kill you”.
Gobind Singh hails from village Mari Bhaini in Faridkot and been lodged at Faridkot jail since April.
Faridkot SSP Nanak Singh said that Gobind Singh and another inmate Kuldeep Singh have been booked under Sections 42 and 52 A of the Prisons Act for shooting the video.
He said that the police is enquiring how the inmate had access to internet inside the jail along with the mobile phones.
