CUTTACK: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday directed the police to file chargesheet in the alleged Baliapal rape case in two weeks. The division bench of Chief Justice V Gopalagowda and Justice BN Mohapatra further instructed that the case should be committed to the court of Sessions Judge, Balasore, following filing of the chargesheet.As per the earlier direction of the court, the Government advocate submitted the victim girl, who was being treated at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, has recovered and discharged. The victim was provided with free treatment at the cost of the State.Police have already arrested two of the accused and one accused has surrendered. The fourth accused is still absconding and the police have moved to nab him by issuing order of property attachment.Adjudicating a PIL writ petition filed by one advocate Ashish Chandra Rath on the alleged rape seeking a Crime Branch probe into the incident and compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim, the court had directed the SP, Balasore, to supervise the investigation of the case. Accordingly, the SP had filed the status report and stated before the court that the investigation has been entrusted to an officer of DSP rank under his direct supervision.The petitioner has alleged that on October 13 last the minor and a college student had been lured by an acquaintance on the pretext of dropping her at her college in his motorcycle. She was waiting for the bus at Dahamunda in Balasore district. But the accused and three others took her to Baliapal and allegedly raped her. She was allegedly confined in a room at Baliapal for two days and subjected to the crime.The victim was allegedly thrown near a pond in a village near Baliapal in an unconscious state by the accused.
