An FIR was lodged against six members of a Delhi Police team after a person they had picked up in connection with an auto-lifting case died allegedly because of severe beating by them.

An FIR was lodged against six members of a Delhi Police team after a person they had picked up in connection with an auto-lifting case died allegedly because of severe beating by them.

The team led by ASI Satish Chandra arrived at Sunwar Sarai village under Dhanari police station area Friday morning and picked up Khushi Pal (50) in connection with a motorcycle theft case, police spokesman Laxmi Shankar Misra said quoting the FIR.

Pal was allegedly beaten up severely leading to his death following which his son Raju lodged an FIR under various sections of the IPC, he said.

Those against whom the case has been lodged included head constable Vijay Singh, constables Pravin Kumar, Sandip Kumar, Satyendra Kumar and a unidentified constable besides the ASI, Misra said.

The police spokesman said the Delhi Police had not informed the local police that they were picking up someone from the area.
