The police has arrested four people who allegedly abducted a six-year-old boy, to use him as a hostage and extort a ransom for his release.
Stating this, Superintendent of Police (Eastern Zone) OP Tripathi told reporters that Rahul, Shubham, Ganpat and Jitendra were arrested, adding that the boy has been released from their captivity.
They allegedly abducted six-year-old Rajveer Rathod from his school under the Banganga police station area after telling him that he was being taken away since a relative of his had died, the officer said.
The kidnappers had demanded Rs 9 lakh as ransom from Rajveer's uncle and threatened that the boy would be killed if the money was not paid. Later, the police nabbed Rahul, who broke under questioning and revealed more information, the officer said.
