MARADU: The government is planning to open a new police station, initially as a temporary one, at Maradu to check the law and order problems in the southern parts of Kochi, especially the Vytila Mobility Hub, says a statement issued by Excise Minister K Babu on behalf of the Chief Minister. At present, the area comes under the jurisdiction of the Panangad Police Station, which lacks sufficient staff strength. As the Panangad Police station is situated at the extreme south end of the National Highway, it is difficult for the policemen to monitor the busy Vytila Junction from here. Moreover, as Maradu has been upgraded as a municipality, it also has got a new face.Keeping these changes in mind, the government is planning to open a new police station to deal with the issues related to the Maradu Municipal area and also the newly opened Vytila Mobility Hub.The official statement on the new police station, with a detailed description of the places that come under its jurisdictions, will soon be issued by the Home Department.
