BANGALORE:  Ignoring the Governor's recommendation to drop proceedings against former chief minister Dharm Singh and former DGP Jija Hari Singh - who have been indicted by the Lokayukta report on the mining issue - the state government has taken steps to ensure that action is taken against the two, CM's political secretary B J Puttaswamy said here on Monday.
Puttaswamy told reporters that Governor H R Bharadwaj had obtained files from the departments concerned and ordered that the proceedings for taking action against the two should be dropped. But since the Governor has no administrative powers, the government has decided to go ahead. According to him, the interim report of the Lokayukta on illegal mining had stated that Dharm Singh's action had caused a loss of `23 crore to the state exchequer and wanted the government to initiate steps to recover the same from him.

On Jija Harisingh, he said that the Lokayukta interim report had pinpointed at her for having taken decisions against the state's interests when she was the managing director of the stateowned MML.
