The state government will extend its support to upgrade Tripunithura Radha Lakshmi Vilasam (RLV) College of Music and Fine Arts to an university said Excise Minister K Babu. He was speaking after inaugurating the platinum jubilee celebrations of the college here on Wednesday. The minister said that a combined effort of the college administration and the government will help the college attain this goal. The government will also provide the financial aid to the college to start a radio station, Babu said.
“Considering the significant role of the RLV College in producing talented musicians and performing artists, it should be upgraded to the level of the most reputed music college in South India,” Babu added. K J Yesudas, who inaugurated the music recording station of the College, suggested the name ‘Poorna Laya Sangeetha University’ for the RLV college, if it is upgraded to an university. With the blessed presence of music gurus and alumni of the college, ‘Sadhana’, a week-long music festival was also launched in connection with the celebrations. ‘Sadhana’ includes all- India conference on music, natya, fine arts, education, music-dance festival and fine arts exhibition. Music maestros, including T N Krishnan, T V Gopalakrishnan, T R Rajamani attended the inaugural function.
A classical music concert led by K J Yesudas accompanied by Mahadeva Sarma on violin, Changanacherry B Hari Kumar on mridangam and Tripunithura Radhakrishnan on ghatom was also held.
