Haryana elections: Close fight between BJP and INLD in Sirsa, Congress missing
While BJP and INLD are trying their best to woo their voters, Congress on the other hand is nowhere to be seen in the ongoing campaign.

Sirsa: Sirsa constituency is dominated by the Punjabi community. Gopal Goyal Kanda is the present MLA of the constituency. But, this time the main battle will be fought between Bhartiya Janata Party's Sunita Setia and Indian National Lok Dal's Makhan Lal Singla.

Sunita Setia is the daughter of a veteran Congress leader late Laxman Das Arora. Being a woman candidate Setia's main concerns are women empowerment and female foeticide in the area. Riding on the Narendra Modi wave, Setia, is confident of winning Sirsa. "I will take forward Modi ji's Beti Padhao andolan and will focus on women security issues in this area," Setia said.

Impressed by Setia's agenda, Radha, a resident of Sirsa said, "This time I want to see a woman leader in Sirsa. This will boost up the confidence of our women."

INLD party members seem to be a bit overconfident about their victory in this election. Party candidate Makhan Lal Singla is relying more on technology to connect with his voters.

Singla arranged special screenings of jailed INLD chief OP Chautala's speeches to woo his voters. Chautala and his son Ajay Singh have been sentenced to 10 years in jail in JB Teachers Recruitment scam. Chautala's bail was cancelled by the Delhi High Court after he violated the laid down conditions by campaigning for INLD candidates. INLD this time is banking majorly on the sympathy factor.

Jyotilal Singh, a resident of Sirsa, said, "Chautala has a strong image in Sirsa. Chautala is their trump card. They might get some votes."

Former Haryana minister and the present Sirsa MLA from Sirsa Kanda earned a bad name for himself because of his alleged involvement in the Geetika Sharma suicide case. He is the prime accused in the case of abetting the suicide of 23-year-old Geetika Sharma and many seem to have lost faith in him.

"Kanda's image is ruined completely. He himself is responsible for his condition. People have no sympathy for him," Naveen Bhalla from Sirsa said.

While BJP and INLD are trying their best to woo their voters, Congress on the other hand is nowhere to be seen in the ongoing campaign. Naveen Kedia is Congress candidate in Sirsa.
