TIRUNELVELI: The stir against Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project resumed at Idinthakarai on Tuesday as agitators started their protest again by launching a relay fast, supported by a group of people from Kanyakumari district. The second phase of the indefinite fast was held at the coastal village between October 9 and 16. Besides protesters blocking the road nearby, they had also been preventing scientists and engineers from entering the premises since Thursday. But the protest committee suspended the stir to facilitate the conduct of local body polls on Monday. After a day off, protesters resumed their agitation as a relay fast at Idinthakarai. However, they desisted from blocking road this time.People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) coordinator and protest leader S P Udayakumar told Express on Tuesday that they had resumed the fast as planned.”It is a relay fast this time that is being staged from morning to evening.  Today, a group from Thegapattinam in Kanyakumari arrived here by three buses to express their solidarity to our protest and sat with us in the fast,” he said.
