THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  As a proactive step to laying the foundations of the digital world early in young minds, Saraswathi Vidyalaya, Vattiyoorkavu, has launched an Information Technology Club in the school. Called ‘digital-i’, the club is a collective of students in standards X and XII and has a headcount of 250 members. Inaugurating the club, Mohammed Rafi, Director of Rafabi Group, Pattom, which imparts mind power and motivational training, said that despite the advantages of Information Technology, it also results in diminished use of mind power among youngsters.  “Focus, concentration and other faculties of the mind need to be worked on along with availing the benefits of fast and easy solutions with IT and ITeS,” said Rafi, who added that his stint in an IT company as soft skills trainer had given him an insight into the need for a balance between the two.  “The IT Club programme will allow students to develop important skills that they can use to enhance their educational resources,” said  Satheesh R Kamath, coordinator of the IT Club. It will also make them more valuable in the job market in future, he added. School principal Gouri Nair presided over the function. Secretary Sukumaran Nair, general secretary Vasantha Nair, Laila Rajmohan and governing body member Rajmohan participated.
