Kerala High Court fines AIYF activists

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 each on nine AIYF activists for destroying public property in the recent protest organised against petrol price hike.The court imposed fine on the activists, including Udayakumar and eight others, who had marched to the BSNL office at Kollam and destroyed the computers, switch board, security cabin and cash counter. The loss was estimated at `10 lakh in the FIR.“Taking into account the facts and circumstances of the case, the petitioners are directed to deposit Rs 30,000 before the court,” Justice K T Shankaran said.The court also directed the petitioners to execute a bond of Rs 25,000 each with two solvent sureties for the like amount and asked them to be present before the investigating officer on all Mondays.
