New Delhi: The year 2007 began on an ominous note for singer Kumar Sanu. His driver of six years Sajid Mohammad Khan allegedly committed suicide on Monday at Sanu’s bungalow in northwest Mumbai.
Police say 33-year-old Khan killed himself by allegedly hanging himself from a fan the unoccupied Versova bungalow called Sargam.
Khan's body was found on Monday morning in a room on the first floor by some gardeners who went to the bungalow.
Though police have not been able to determine why Khan resorted to the extreme step, they say he was last seen on Monday night.
Addressing journalists at the bungalow, Sanu said Khan had been working with him for the past six years and was staying in the bungalow for the last seven months.
However, the singer denied his driver had committed suicide due to financial reasons, saying he was paid well and had also been give a Rs-3,000 advance for Eid.
Khan was reportedly entrusted with the responsibility of selling off the bungalow and taking care of the singer's dog.
