VELLORE: Residents of Kaspa staged a protest near Vellore on Monday morning, demanding supply of LPG cylinders. LPG consumers of Kaspa in Vellore receive cylinders from a private gas agency located on Chittoor Road. Usually, the cylinders are brought to Kaspa every Wednesday and Sunday, where consumers assemble and receive their cylinders. The consumers agitated on Monday as they didn’t receive cylinders even 40 days after booking. They also alleged that they were being ignored for the past two weeks. The agency had informed them that they would deliver the cylinders on Monday but when nearly 150 consumers assembled at Kaspa in the morning, the agency brought only 40 cylinders. Enraged over this, the public staged a protest. The public complained that they spend `420 to come from their homes to collect the cylinder and carry it back. When an employee of the gas agency, Sureshbabu was contacted, he said, the agency doesn’t receive enough stock to meet the demand. He also promised door delivery of the refilled cylinders hereafter and people need to pay `308.50 only for the cylinders.Vellore south police reached the spot and promised action on the issue.
