Madurai: AIADMK councillor candidate dead

MADURAI: The AIADMK candidate for the 15th ward in the district corporation, Melaponnagaram, died after a brief illness today. The councillor election for the ward were cancelled following the death of Jayamani, the candidate, officials said. However the ward voters would be involved in choosing the Mayor for the corporation, they added.
