SAMBALPUR: Miscreants struck at Mahamaya Temple in Fatak under Ainthapali police limits late on Thursday night and decamped with silver ornaments worth Rs 70,000 besides Rs 5,000 in cash. This is the third such incident in the area even as the Sambalpur Police are struggling for a breakthrough in earlier thefts at Kalibadi on the busy VSS Marg and Hanuman temple located at Brooks Hill under Dhanupali police limits. While the police are still clueless about the theft amounting to Rs 8 lakh at Kalibadi on February 7, the miscreants had struck again at the Hanuman temple on November 13. They broke into the temple through the window grill and decamped with valuables and cash summing up to Rs 1.5 lakh. Add to it the breaking of Hundi case at Samaleswari Temple, a couple of years back, which the police are yet to crack.ASP Dilip Kumar Deo said it seems to be the handiwork of a particular group from outside the district. He said the police have got some definite clues and two teams have been formed to track down the culprits.
