TIRUCHY: The second loco of the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is ready for it’s trial run and is likely to be dispatched by the  the end of January, P Mahesh, chief workshop manager, GOC (Central Workshops) announced on Thursday. Addressing the gathering during the Republic Day celebrations here, Mahesh touched upon the achievements of the GOC, the only workshop under Southern Railways to earn `8.95 crore as sundry earnings up to December 2011. GOC was the first railway workshop to obtain ISO 9001 certification in Quality Management System and also the first to achieve ISO 14001 certification in Environment Management System, he said. In 2011, it also obtained an Integrated Management System (IMS), including OHSAS 18001. Announcing that the Railway Board has sanctioned 20 more locomotives under the Rolling Stock Programme in GOC, he said that six of these locomotives have been completed this year. Similarly, the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has placed an order for 1,000 BLC wagons at a cost of `217 crore. The Railway Board has also placed an order for 50 bogie frame-less tank (BTFLN) wagons. Further, the headquarters has fixed a `115- crore target for scrap disposal at the combined scrap stores depot, Goldenrock for 2011-2012, he said.
