The Shiv Sena-BJP in Maharashtra on Thursday filed a no-confidence motion against the Democratic Front (DF) government.

Mumbai: The Opposition Shiv Sena-BJP in Maharashtra on Thursday filed a no-confidence motion against the Democratic Front (DF) government, accusing it of "failure to avert the July 11 serial blasts".

"Although the DF government's handling of the probe into the blasts is the principal reason for moving the no-confidence motion, there are other reasons also, like the increasing instances of suicide by farmers," the BJP group leader in the Assembly, Gopinath Munde, told reporters.

The Opposition will highlight the DF government's failure on all fronts during a discussion on the no-trust move," Munde said.

"We will highlight the recent violence in Bhiwandi, the intelligence failure leading to the trains blasts and also the failure to nab the culprits behind the blasts," he said.

The Opposition has also filed a no-trust notice against Assembly Deputy Speaker Pramod Shende, accusing him of gagging opposition leaders in the House by not allowing them to speak and winding up the House abruptly.

The monsoon session of the assembly is scheduled to end on Friday.PAGE_BREAK
