An MEA spokesman also tweeted saying that the request for extension of residence permits of the Indian children in Norway "should emanate from parents".
New Delhi: India has reportedly asked Norway to expedite the return of the children of NRI couple Anurup and Sagarika Bhattacharya, urging it to do so keeping in view the "humanitarian dimension".
A terse government statement said, "The children are neither orphans, nor Stateless persons. They enjoy the protection of the Indian State."
"India urges Norway to expedite the process of return of the children to India in view of the humanitarian dimension."
