BELGAUM: Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekhar Kambar did a fli-flop on Thursday, and retracted from his earlier decision to participiate in a felicitation here on December 7. Kambar took the decision after the police department advised him against visit Belgaum citing a tense situation in the border city as reason. Kambar had decided on Tuesday to not participiate in the function following the advise from a top police official who suggested that he not visit Belgaum for the next two weeks. However, local Kannada outfits managed to convince the litterateur to attend and the same was convened to Naganur Math — the organisers of the programme.Meanwhile, Kannada outfits have decided to stage a procession of Kambar from Kittur Channamma circle to the JNMC Jirge Hall.Kambar’s Sankeshwar function which was scheduled on the same day (December 7) has also been cancelled, former minister A B Patil, who had organised the function, told Express.
