Hyderabad: Popular Telugu actor Nutan Prasad died in Hyderabad on Wednesday following prolonged illness.
61-year-old Prasad, who had been suffering from heart-related ailment, died while being shifted to a hospital on Wednesday, film industry sources said.
In a career spanning over three decades, he acted in about a hundred films in myriad roles ranging from a villain to comedian among others.
Some of the films that brought him in the limelight were Muthyala Muggu, Rajadhiraju, Patnam Vachina, Pativratalu among others.
Prasad, who became crippled after a major accident while shooting for ‘Bamma Mata Bangaru Bata’ in 1989, continued to act in films and anchored television shows to make a living.
He won Andhra Pradesh government’s Nandi award for good performance in 1984.
Politicians from across the parties, including Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu, actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi and a host of film personalities condoled his death.
Prasad was native of Kaikaluru in Krishna district in coastal Andhra Pradesh and his real name was Vara Prasad.
