A person was killed and four others critically injured when a car hit the divider before banging into the side rails of a flyover at Zero Point of Yamuna Expressway on Wednesday, police said.
The victims were travelling from Sikohabad to Greater Noida when the mishap occurred, leaving the car hanging dangerously from the side rails, police said.
The car had got stuck and was hanging at a height of 40 feet from the flyover railing which made the rescue operation difficult for police, forcing them to press cranes into operation and pull down the car after rescuing the passengers, they said.
It took two hours to rescue the victims stuck inside, they said, adding that they were rushed to a nearby hospital where one was declared brought dead, while a woman's arm had to be amputated.
