Hyderabad: Union Minister and BCCI President Sharad Pawar landed in a legal mess on Friday after a court ordered that an FIR be lodged against him and three others for the alleged misappropriation of funds during the fifth India-Australia ODI in Hyderabad.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Court passed the order after former Rajya Sabha MP P Radhakrishna moved a petition in the court, alleging that Pawar and other BCCI officials — Niranjan Shah, Shivlal Yadav, G Vinod and Hyderabad Cricket Association secretary Shivlal Yadav — were involved in cheating and misappropriation of funds during the India- Australia match on October 5.

The petitioner contended that the Cricket Board had sold 24,000 tickets for a premium and made huge money, while only 15,000 tickets were made available for general public. The petitioner alleged that Rs 12 crore were misappropriated in the process.

On the basis of the petition, the third Metropolitan Magistrate of Cyberabad ordered the Uppal Police station to lodge an FIR against the accused for cheating and misappropriation of funds.

The FIR has been lodged under Sections 123B, Sec 420, Sec 406 and Sec 409.
