Police get custody of Apple promoters

KOCHI: The promoters of the controversial Apple A Day Properties Ltd, who are facing legal action after they failed to complete the projects, were remanded in police custody by  the Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Monday.Company managing director KA Saju and director Rajeev Cheruvara had surrendered before the Kanjirappally Judicial First Class Magistrate Court at Ponkunnam on Saturday. They were produced before the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court on the basis of a production warrant issued by the court.  Police filed an application seeking the custody of the two soon after they appeared before the court.The police submitted that their custodial interrogation was essential for collecting more information regarding the offence. As many as 173 cases have been filed against the accused so far.“More information on the collection of money, ownership of properties and bank transactions have to be secured,” the police submitted. They will be produced before the court again on June 30.
