Bangalore: Closed circuit TVs and high resolution night cameras would be installed at important locations and general crowded area of Bangalore as part of stepped up security for the tech hub, Karnataka Home Minister R Ashoka said on Saturday.
This is being done as Bangalore was considered a terror target, he told reporters in Bangalore.
The central government has assured to provide Rs 500 crore to implement what Ashoka called '24X7 surveillance system' for the city that houses hundreds of IT companies, including biggies such as Infosys and Wipro.
Ashoka did not say by when the system would be in place. The surveillance system was also intended to help police check crime in the city, he said.
Ashoka said installation of CCTV cameras at busy locations like city markets, bus and railway stations would begin soon.
CCTVs would be installed in the high court premises also in view of the recent bomb blast at Delhi high court, he said.
Entry of people and vehicle parking in the high court premises has been regulated following the Delhi blasts.
Among the security steps already taken is installation of high resolution cameras atop the Vidhana Sabha, the state secretariat in city centre, Ashoka said.
The secretariat houses the offices of the chief minister, ministers and various departments.
