New Delhi: Producer Sunil Bohra is planning to hold a special screening of his new film 'Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster' for the family of late filmmaker Guru Dutt.
The film, releasing Sep 30, is inspired by the principal characters of Guru Dutt's 1962 film 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam' and is a contemporary version on how the characters would behave in this era.
And Bohra is planning to screen the movie for Guru Dutt's sister Lalita Lajmi, her filmmaker-daughter Kalpana Lajmi, his cousin Shyam Benegal and son Arun Dutt.
"I've already spoken to Shyam babu, who is in Delhi, and he has promised to be there. It's a film he had shortlisted as a must-watch even before we extended the invitation, " Bohra said in a statement.
The film stars Mahie Gill, Randeep Hooda and Jimmy Shergill in prominent roles, but director Tigmanshu Dhulia is insistent that the film is not a remake.
"My film is not a remake or an adaptation of 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam'. I have just taken the three principal characters from that film and made our own version. The similarity is limited to these three characters. After that, it is a completely new film," said Dhulia.
