BANGALORE: The ring of a door bell can save a woman’s life. Breakthrough is a global human rights organisation, that uses the power of communication to good use and safety for every being. The organisation launched its new campaign Bell Bajao!, on November 8. Bell Bajao is an initiative to bring down the level of domestic violence and women harassment in our country.Breakthrough in partners with Ministry of Women, Child Development, the United Nations and community based groups, will be carrying on this campaign for the next 25 days in Karnataka, out of which the organisation will spend fifteen days in Bangalore and 10 days in Tumkur. Travelling in a media van, a group of trained individuals will convey the message of domestic violence, sexual violence and sex education. The media van, is fully equipped with speakers and microphones to communicate with a large number of people. The van will also have a small band of singers, who will be singing songs about rights, freedoms and non violence. There is also a flat screen that is installed there which shows the present condition of women suffering from various parts of our country. The initiative is done to protect the rights and life of women all over India. The campaign will train citizens to prevent any sort of domestic violence or harassment towards women. However what happens within a couple is a part of their personal life, the words Bell Bajao, doesn’t mean that you can fist the culprit but just to raise awareness and prevent it from leading to extreme measures.  This is second time this campaign is taking place, first time it happened in August, 2008 in various states simultaneously. They had visited various schools, colleges, villages and cities and trained them to stop domestic violence if they came across any, not stopping only at domestic violence they also taught them the importance of sex education and preventions of HIV/AIDS through live demonstration. Apart from this the organisation also provided justice for many victims. The organisation is planning to the same this year as well, but on a larger scale and save more lives. The campaign has already begun so watch out for a red van, that is going to save some-one’s life with your support. And, it will be coming to your area within the next two weeks.
