Chennai: A Sri Lankan Tamil youth, believed to be close to the LTTE leadership, has been detained at the airport here.
Airport sources said the youth, who arrived by a flight from Colombo on Thursday night, was detained by the immigration authorities following a tip-off from the Intelligence Bureau.
While immigration officials are tightlipped about the youth's detention, airport sources said intelligence officials were expected to question him.
