BANGALORE: After taking charge as the deputy mayor of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), S Harish had stated that strict action will be taken against those who are found creating nuisance by urinating in the public. In an effort to bring down such instances, the deputy mayor, also the corporator of Nagapura BBMP, recently inaugurated two public toilets in his ward.Barring water complaints from the residents of Ketmaranahalli and Bovipalya, Nagapura ward under Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has fewer complaints unlike other BBMP wards. When City Express sought the measures taken by the corporator to address this issue Harish said, “Yes, there are some areas under my ward that are undergoing water scarcity. Two-three loads of water is being supplied through tankers to such areas.” When we visited the ward, we found, ongoing works to give a new look to the footpaths. But the concrete waste and stones are left on the roads, causing inconvenience to the residents at the entire stretch of 5th Main Road, 2nd Stage, West of Chord Road. “The works are taken up for our benefit. But the concrete wastes cannot be left unattended. They should be removed,” said Rajesh P Jain, a resident. The Corporator assured that the debris will be removed by the contractor concerned once the footpaths are installed with new designer tiles. Umesh, a resident said that the parks in the ward are maintained well. Some residents demanded the introduction of free computer classes which was earlier promised by the Palike. “These classes have been stopped as arbitration is going on and I had taken up this issue at the BBMP council too. It will be introduced soon after a policy is evolved,” said Harish S.
