TN: Collector slaps Rs 1.02 lakh fine on vehicles

Madurai: District Collector U Sagayam has slapped a Rs 1.02 lakh fine on vehicles violating Motor Vehicles Act and other rules in surprise checks. The Collector who personally conducted the checks, slapped fines on more than 30 goods vehicles, besides fining drivers for not wearing uniforms and seat belts.

Blinding headlights used by three omnibuses were also seized.

The raids which started at 8 PM last night continued till 3 AM this morning.
