MALAPPURAM: Traffic through the Nadukani pass is likely to be restricted partially or banned completely as part of the repair works of the road which was damaged by multiple landslides. According to sources in the Tamil Nadu Highway Department, the repair works will commence soon after the Onam celebrations.Though a complete traffic ban is a possibility less sought, partial restriction on vehicles is all likely to implemented, said an official on Thursday. However, the movement of heavy vehicles will not be allowed. The pass, which is on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala interstate highway, is in a dangerous state after cracks appeared on the road as an aftermath of heavy rain and multiple landslides last week. The highway department is preparing an estimate to reconstruct the sidewalls of the road near Anna Nagar where the cracks were found.
