Ferrari are apparently baffled at the outcome of the Mercedes-Pirelli "tire-gate" hearing. Meredes who broke the rules availing the services of suppliers Pirelli, were banned from participating in the Young Driver Test.
According to gpupdate, Ferrari have labeled the outcome of the tribunal as "perplexing". The hearing did not result in serious serious repercussions for the German team, much to the disappointment of Ferrari.
"It is somewhat perplexing to say the least to see that the guilty party can get away virtually scot free for having derived 'an unfair sporting advantage." said the Maranello-based outfit.
Don't tell me that testing for three days on your own at the Catalunya circuit is the same as doing so with nine other teams at Silverstone with a host of young hopefuls at the wheel, in an area where the weather can still be changeable even in the height of summer."
In their column The Horse Whisper, it was also added that the way things were faring out in Formula One, the sport would become boring. "you race with an illegal component, but then you are told to just change it for the next race and we've seen what we've seen", the column added.
Pirelli too did not suffer major consequences as they were just reprimanded from the three-day 1000km test.
