BANGALORE: In three separate incidents, four BE students and a diploma student drowned in different lakes on the outskirts of the city.Two BE students, who had gone for swimming to Manchanabele Dam in Tavarekere police station limits, died after they drowned in the lake.The incident took place on Wednesday evening.The deceased have been identified as Nagesh, a native of Channapatna and Darshan, a native of Chikmagalur.Both were aged 23 years and studying fifth semester BE at Reva Institute of Technology at Yelahanka.The body of Nagesh was fished out on Thursday afternoon and Darshan’s body is yet to be fished out.According to the police, the incident took place when they had gone to the dam on Wednesday evening.Later, their friends informed the matter to the police late in the evening.Search operation was not conducted as it was already dark.The police along with the rescue team of the fire department started searching for the bodies on Thursday morning.By afternoon, Nagesh body was fished out from the lake.However, Darshan’s body was not found and it has been decided to continue the operation on Friday also.In another incident at Venkatagiri Kote village in Vijayapura police station limits on Thursday morning, Jayanth and Karthik, both aged 20 years, died after they drowned in the lake.They were second year BE students of M S Engineering College at Sadahalli.According to the police, the incident occurred when the duo, along with their friend Pavan, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had gone to the lake.The bodies were shifted to Devanahalli government hospital mortuary where the postmortem was conducted.In yet another case reported atop Savanadurga Hills in Magadi police limits on Tuesday, Ranjith (18), a firstyear diploma student of Shantinikethan College, drowned in a pond and died.He had gone there along with his friends for a birthday party.The body has been fished out from the pond, the police said.
