New Delhi: Messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, Snapchat and Telegram could face a ban in Britain as PM David Cameron aims to stop the use of encrypted communication services in his battle against terror.
Cameron vows to introduce a legislation to provide intelligence agencies a legal framework to crack down on communications of terror suspects. The new legislation would only be introduced if Cameron gets re-elected in the next parlimentary elections in May.
This means that all encyrpted communciation services including iMessage and WhatsApp that prevent government agencies from reading messages being sent through their apps would be targetted which could even amount to a ban. It is still unclear how the British government would enforce a ban on such apps.
