BANGALORE: Denying that any of his Cabinet colleagues were involved in illegal mining in the state, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa announced that he would take affirmative action once Lokayukta, which conducted investigation into the issue, submits its report.
Addressing the press here on Tuesday, the chief minister denied that the report of the Lokayukta was leaked even before it was submitted to the state government."It is incorrect to say that the report was leaked and some ministers were allegedly found guilty by the investigation agency," he said. Giving a clean chit to the three ministers from Bellary district, including Tourism Minister G Janardhan Reddy, Yeddyurappa said: "The Reddy brothers are innocent."

Releasing a booklet on his government's achievements after completing three years in office, he said that in the last three years, their government had laid down a strong foundation for vibrant economic development of the state for the next decade."

The chief minister, who also holds the finance portfolio, informed that Karnataka stood first in resource mobilisation, had a good law and order situation and won laurels for deploying Information Technology to improve administration and enable transparency. He said that the per capita expenditure in Karnataka was the highest in the country at `5,346 and it stood second in the implementation of 20point programmes.

He was of the opinion that the state government had achieved progress despite continuous noncooperation from Opposition political parties. The government has declared the next decade as "Irrigation decade".
