The scorching heat has hindered the milk production in the cows. It has become a complex problem for cattle rearers. In such a situation, Dr SD Dwivedi suggests the cattle reared adopt certain activities and change the diet of the cow to increase milk production. He claims that by adopting some special activities and diet, not only will milk production but the nutritional value of milk will also increase.
Dr Dwivedi, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer of Government Veterinary Hospital, Nagar Ballia, told Local 18 that in this scorching heat, cattle keepers face a big problem, in which either the animals fall ill or reduce the milk production. Due to this, the cattle keepers are unable to earn proper profit. He asks the cattle keepers to feed jaggery water to the animals. It will give energy to the cattle to survive in the heat and will also significantly help in increasing milk production.
Apart from this, there are some other methods which can help in milk production in cattle, if adopted. You can give deworming medicine in 6 months along with 100 ml multivitamin and calcium. It should be given in the morning and evening. The quality of milk will also increase with this method.
To increase milk production, the cattle must follow a balanced diet. It is extremely important for milk production. According to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, a balanced diet provides the nutrients for optimum health and production in dairy cows. These often include green fodder, dry fodder, concentrate mixture, mineral and vitamin supplements and potable water.
Dr SD Dwivedi said that a mixture of grains, pulses and oil should be given. If the cow is given 3 litres of milk and the buffalo is given 4 litres of milk, then he suggests that one kg of animal feed and one kg of subsistence ration. If the cattle are about to give birth, then it is necessary to give 1 kg of ration separately for its calf. Dry fodder contributes major bulk to the fodder and increases the milk fat in high-producing animals. ´ Dry fodder resources include- paddy, wheat, ragi and jowar. Dry fodder is low in nutritive value, especially protein. Its nutritive value is increased by urea treatment.
