Raayan, written and directed by Dhanush, has set the cash registers ringing at the box office. The film was reportedly produced on a budget of Rs 90 crore and has grossed Rs 160 crore globally. It has topped the list of Tamil films released in 2024 with the highest collection. Initially, Indian 2 topped the list with a worldwide collection of Rs 151 crore and Raayan occupied the second position. Now, Raayan, starring Dhanush in the lead role, has secured the first position. The film also stars Aparna Balamurali, Devadarshini Chetan, Kalidas Jayaram and others in important roles. Manish Bhavan has also contributed as a writer to Raayan, along with Dhanush. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and the Sun NXT. This film was released on the big screens in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.
Some time back, there were rumours that Dhanush’s brother, Selvaraghavan had contributed to the script of Raayan. Selvaraghavan is a renowned director who has previously helmed hits like Mayakkan Yenna. He has also acted in Raayan. Selvaraghavan denied these rumours in a tweet. In a statement released on Twitter, he stated, “Friends, heard reports that I have written the script for D50 Raayan. I clarify that I have nothing to do with Raayan’s script or scripting process. It’s purely Dhanush’s dream script and now he has made it into his film. I am merely an actor in this project.”

As of now, Dhanush has directed the films Power Paandi, Raayan and Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. Now, besides these 3 projects, he is also set to direct his 4th film. In an interview, actor SJ Suryah was quoted as saying that the shooting of Dhanush’s fourth directorial venture will commence in August. While Suryah has not disclosed more details about this project, actor Prakash Raj has shared some information about it. He talked about it in the pre-release event of the film Raayan, which took place on July 21, 2024 night in Hyderabad. During the event, Raj, who plays an important role in the film, revealed that Dhanush plans to direct a new project. According to Raj, this project will star himself and Nithya Menen as the main leads.
