Dharmaveer 2, written and directed by Pravin Tarde, was released at the cinema halls on September 27, 2024. It is a sequel to the 2022 film Dharmaveer. The film revolves around Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s mentor Anand Dighe, as a Hindutva icon. The film has been ruling the box office from the day 1 of its release. According to reports, the film earned Rs 1.74 crore on the first day of its release. On the second day, it earned Rs 2.35 crore at the box office. On the third day, the film collected Rs 2.75 crore. In just three days, this movie has earned Rs 6.84 crore. The data released so far indicates that this amount can also increase in the coming days. According to the reports, Dharmaveer 2 has been produced on a budget of Rs 15 crore. According to a report, this film has also registered the biggest opening weekend for a Marathi film in 2024.
Dharmaveer 2 stars Prasad Oak, Sunil Barve, Rajesh Bhosle, Kshitish Date, Makarand Date and others in important roles. Dharamveer, released in November 2023 was a biopic of the late Anand Dighe, a Shiv Sena leader from Thane. It projected Shinde as Dighe’s heir. The second part focuses on why Shinde split the Sena and led the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, in 2022.
Dharmaveer 2, a Marathi biographical political drama received mixed to decent reviews from critics. Some critics have lauded the film for its acting performances and other departments. Others are calling it a propaganda film before the assembly elections of Maharashtra. Till now, there is no definite date regarding the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Will there be a Dharmaveer 3?
There have been no reports regarding the 3rd part of the Dharmaveer franchise till now. No member of the franchise cast and crew has spoken on this matter. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis talked about this aspect when speaking to reporters at the film’s premiere. Fadnavis was asked about whether there’s likely to be a political thriller based on him too. He laughed it off, saying, “I will write the script for Dharmaveer 3.”
