Director Nag Ashwin Celebrates Kalki 2898 AD's Success With Bujji And Fans
On July 23, filmmaker Ashwin was scheduled to watch the film with fans at Telangana’s Mahabubnagar, where they received an enthusiastic response.

The post-apocalyptic film, Kalki 2898 AD, has so far been the biggest box office blockbuster of the year. In just 27 days, the Nag Ashwin-directed film has collected Rs 1,008 crore worldwide. The Deepika Padukone-and Prabhas-starrer movie is still going strong despite the release of various other big movies. On July 23, filmmaker Ashwin was scheduled to watch the film with fans at Telangana’s Mahabubnagar, where they received an enthusiastic response.

The official handle of the film shared the visuals on their Instagram story. Hundreds of people can be seen gathered at the spot, cheering for Ashwin, who can be seen waving to the crowd. The team was also joined by Bujji, a futuristic vehicle with huge wheels that acts as the trusty buddy of Prabhas’ character Bhairava. The overlaying caption read, “Heartwarming welcome for #Bujji (sic) and our Captain @nag_ashwin (sic) in Mahabubnagar!”

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kalki 2898 AD made around Rs 0.29 crore India net for all languages on Day 28, at around 1:40 PM. It reportedly brought in Rs 2 crore on Day 27.

In the domestic market, the movie has made more money than Rs 620 crore. It is now only Rs 20 crore short of surpassing Jawan, directed by Atlee and starring Shah Rukh Khan, which has an overall India net haul of Rs 640 crore.

Still, it’s unclear if Kalki will top Jawan’s (Rs 1,160 crore) worldwide earnings, which is presently ranked fifth, considering much-anticipated films such as Deadpool and Wolverine hitting theatres this week.

Nevertheless, after joining the exclusive Rs 1,000 crore club on July 13, it exceeded the all-time collection of Rs 1,055 crore for Siddharth Anand’s Shah Rukh Khan flick Pathaan, making it the sixth highest-grossing movie.

In addition to Deepika and Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan play major roles in the movie. This lavish fantasy film, grafts The Mahabharata components onto popular American sci-fi type films.

Kalki 2898 AD surpasses its competitors by delving further than anticipated into the rich theatrical arena of its patchwork narrative. The story’s central figure, Ashwatthama, the oldest living person from the Kurukshetra War, is portrayed by the Bachchan. He faces off against Bhairava (Prabhas) to prepare for the arrival of Kalki, Vishnu’s last incarnation.
