Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil Visit Kerala Theatre During Bougainvillea Screening

The Malayalam film Bougainvillea, starring Kunchacko Boban and Fahadh Faasil, was released at the cinemas on October 17, 2024, and received mixed reviews. Many viewers lauded the thriller for its plot and performances, others called it drab and underwhelming in comparison to its source novel. Kunchacko and Fahadh visited the KSFDC Kairali Sree Theatre Alappuzha, Kerala to watch one of the shows of Bougainvillea. Both the lead actors cut the cake marking Bougainvillea’s success and Fahadh even fed a cake piece to Kunchacko Boban. “Tell everyone to come and watch Bougainvillea,” said Kunchacko, to everyone present in the cinema hall. Fahadh also requested the audience to watch the film. He also said that on behalf of the Bougainvillea team, he would like to thank everyone who made the film a massive success.

Amal Neerad has directed this film. It stars an ensemble star cast of actors Jyothirmayi, Veena Nandakumar, Srinda and Sharafudheen in important roles.

Audiences liked Bougainvillea but some felt that it could not do justice to the novel on which it is based. On Twitter, one of the users wrote as a fan of the novel, he can say this film is only 50 percent of it. The user wrote that there are many buildups in the film but less outcome. The user also pointed out a weaker climax in Bougainvillea.

Bougainvillea is an action-crime thriller and marks the return of Amal Neerad’s wife, Jyothirmayi on the big screen after a long sabbatical. Novelist Lajo Jose and Amal Neeradhave written this film and RJ Murugan has penned the dialogues. Jyothirmayi and Kunchacko Boban have produced this film under the banners of Amal Neerad Productions and Udaya Pictures respectively. The thriller will be the first collaboration between the lead actor and the director.

Kunchacko last acted in the film Grrr, which was released on the big screens on June 14, 2024. Jay K had directed this survival comedy which received poor reviews from the box office. He enacted a cameo in Sureshinteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahariyaya Pranayakatha, a romantic comedy directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval.
