Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai star Shubhangi Atre ended her 19-year marriage with her husband Piyush Poorey last year. The actress had said that she had separated from her husband, but she would not take the path of divorce. After making this major decision in her life, Shubhangi went through emotional ups and downs and has now taken the spiritual path.
Recently, the actress has spent a lot of time in isolation. She sought spiritual research and self-discovery at a tranquil yoga and spiritual ashram in Coimbatore. Talking about her spiritual retreat, the actress said, “Going away and spending a day at a yoga centre brought a unique peace. The ashram serves as a tranquil space, allowing me to meditate, practice yoga, and wander amidst the lush green surroundings of Dhyanalinga.”
The actress further said, “The spiritual environment and positive energy have left a very good impact on my soul. Thinking back on my time there, I am very grateful for the moments of self-discovery. This adventure will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Talking about her Coimbatore trip, the actress added that apart from self-exploration, she also enjoyed the good food. From the famous South Indian dosa to Kothu parotta, she enjoyed every local food of that place, the actress said.
Last year, the actress revealed that she and her husband hadn’t been living together for almost a year then, and reconciliation seemed unlikely. In 2003, Shubhangi and Piyush, who works in digital marketing, got married in Indore. They were blessed with a daughter two years later.
In an interaction with ETimes earlier, Shubhangi said, “It’s still difficult. My family is my first concern, and we all desire our families close by. But some damages are beyond repair. When a relationship of so many years breaks, it’s bound to affect you mentally and emotionally. Although I was also affected, I have accepted that this was the necessary course of action. Mental stability is paramount. But adversity, in my opinion, always imparts a lesson.”
Shubhangi Atre further said that for her daughter’s sake, she didn’t divorce Piyush Poorey, as she believes that the love of both parents is important for a child. Her husband comes on Sundays to meet her daughter, as per reports.
