Sudhanshu Pandey Says He Got 'Signs' To Quit Anupamaa, Reacts To Tiff With Rupali Ganguly: 'For Four Years...'
Sudhanshu Pandey, who plays Vanraj in Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna show Anupamaa, recently announced he's quitting it.

Sudhanshu Pandey’s exit from Anupamaa surprised many fans and led to various rumors. Some said it was due to a fallout with lead actress Rupali Ganguly or because Gaurav Khanna’s entry shifted Pandey from lead to a parallel role. However, in a recent interview with Free Press Journal, Sudhanshu clarified that he left the show for personal growth. He explained that his role had run its course.

Speaking about the character, he said, “There had been some discussions about quitting the show for quite some time now. To be honest, in my mind, I did start feeling that the time to call it quits has been nearing. As an actor, I did not have much left and I felt it was the time to move on.” He added that he quit after he got some ‘signs’. He said, “For four years, I did my best and gave Vanraj Shah my all. But, I did feel that my growth was stunted and when I reached that stage, I decided to call it quits. I got some signs, so yes.”

When asked if his character Vanraj Shah had less to do in the show, Sudhanshu Pandey said that while his role was strong, a daily soap can’t always focus on one character. He explained, “My character was strong. In a daily soap, your character can not always be the most important one, there are ups and downs. The story will shift to other characters too. Sometimes, it will be shift on the kids, sometimes on Maa bapuji and so much more. Audience will get bored if the story revolves just around a single character.”

Sudhanshu denied that his role changed after Gaurav Khanna joined. He explained, “Rupali and I are actors. We are not creatives of the show to have creative differences. For those who have seen us on the sets of the shows, know that we share an amazing camaraderie. We would always crack jokes and laugh like mad.”

Recently reports suggested that Gaurav Khanna, who portrays Anuj, and Rupali Ganguly, who plays the titular character, are leaving the show. However, in a recent interview, Anupamaa producer Rajan Shahi dismissed these rumours in a chat with HT.
