Many people dream of becoming successful in Bollywood. The common man sometimes does not understand why some actors give up acting at the peak of their career to take up another job. Today we are going to talk about one such actress who was once successful but retired from the glamorous world of films and took up a job at Google. The actress is none other than Mayoori Kango. With appearances in films like Papa Kehte Hain and the hit song Ghar Se Nikalte Hi, Mayoori Kango was considered one of the promising stars in Bollywood. Her last film was Vamsi, which was released in 2000. Mayoori Kango also acted in television serials like Nargis, Thoda Gham Thodi Khushi, Dollar Babu and Kitty Party.
It seemed like she had it all and was going on to have a successful career in films and television. In 2003, Mayoori Kango left the film world and moved to the US with her husband.
Mayoori Kango then did her MBA in Marketing and Finance from Baruch College Zicklin School of Business. Immediately after that, Mayoori Kango started working in the US between 2004 and 2012. Currently, she works as the Head of Indian Industry – Agency Business at Google India.
She had reportedly cleared the IIT entrance exam and was selected at IIT Kanpur. She did not take the admission and focused on a career in Bollywood.
Mayoori Kango, at the beginning of her career, had moved to Mumbai to pursue acting and studies. In an old interview, she said, “I managed to get through IIT Kanpur but decided to study arts as my parents felt it would be difficult to pursue engineering along with an acting career. But my film was so popular that it became difficult to lead a normal life in college. So I studied from home for my bachelor’s and masters.”
She married an NRI named Aditya Dhillon on 28 December 2003 in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. They welcomed a son in 2011. Later, she moved to New York with her husband and earned an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Baruch College Zicklin School of Business.
