Actor Nana Patekar said that he even smoked while bathing after his eldest son passed away.

Veteran actor Nana Patekar recently opened up about his elder son’s demise. The actor, who rarely talks about his personal life, revealed those bitter truths related to his life, of which people are unaware. He said that he was addicted to smoking cigarettes.

The actor spoke about his personal life in an interview with The Lallantop. He said that his eldest son battled health complications from birth. “He had trouble in one eye, it wasn’t visible. I felt so disgusted that when I saw him, I thought about what people would think, what kind of son Nana has. I didn’t think about what he felt or how he felt. I only thought about what people would think about my son,” he said.

He added that he was shocked when his son died. He also said that he was so addicted to smoking that he used to smoke 60 cigarettes a day and also shared how he quit smoking. “At that time, I used to smoke about 60 cigarettes a day. I even smoked while bathing. But it’s a very bad thing. No one would sit in my car because of the foul smell. I never drank alcohol much but I smoked a lot,” the actor said.

Nana Patekar further added that he quit smoking because of his sister. He said, “It was because of my sister that I quit smoking. She lost her only son. Then my sister saw me coughing after smoking. She said, ‘What else do you want to see?'”

The actor was deeply hurt to hear this and he quit smoking from that day onwards. He also revealed how he met his wife. He shared that he named his elder son Durvasa. “His name was Durvasa. He spent two and a half years with us. But what can you do, some things happen in life,” he added.

Nana Patekar is known for his witty humour and blunt statements. He has worked in several blockbuster films like Agnisakshi, Krantiveer and Tiranga. Last year, he was part of Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War.
