New Delhi: The Congress has hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the induction of sacked BSP minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and have also used the instance to get back on the party over the Lokpal Bill comments.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the BJP should create an internal Lokpal instead of giving a petition to the President. "BJP need not petition President on Lokpal; instead, should create internal Lokpal to screen and admit only corrupt applicants like Kushwaha," Singhvi tweeted on Friday.
This came a day after the BJP submitted a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil demanding reconvening of Parliament session so that voting is conducted on the Lokpal Bill.
The delegation, led by senior BJP Leader LK Advani and BJP President Nitin Gadkari, also registered an official protest over the Lokpal Bill fiasco that took place in the Rajya Sabha on December 29.
Sighvi's comments also come at a time when the BJP has been facing criticism over the induction of Kushwaha. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had conducted raids at Kushwaha's residence on Wednesday in connection to the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam.
