Centre cancels Kejriwal's order to sack the Home Secretary who authorised ACB chief MK Meena's appointment

New Delhi: There is no end to confrontation between the Central government and the Delhi government. In a fresh salvo, the Centre has cancelled the Arvind Kejriwal government's order to remove Principal Secretary for Home Dharampal who issued appointment letter for new Anti Corrution Branch (ACB) chief Mukesh Meena. The Home Ministry has claimed that it is their prerogative to appoint or transfer officials.

After Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung appointed Mukesh Meena as chief of the ACB, the Delhi Vigilance Director had written to the new chief telling him that there is no place for him in the ACB.

In a letter to Meena, he wrote that there is only one post of Additional Commissioner of Police in the ACB which is presently occupied. Meena has been told that there is no sanctioned post for him and hence, he must return to his post in the Delhi Police. Meena held the position of Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police prior to this appointment.

However, soon after the letter, sources close to the L-G said that the Vigilance Director is not authorised to tell Meena whether to join the ACB or not.

Meena's appointment in the ACB has intensified the face-off between the Delhi government and the L-G after the Delhi government transferred Dharampal for authorising the order on L-G order's behalf.
