New Delhi: The all-party meet on the eve of monsoon session of Parliament ended in a deadlock with Bharatiya Janata Party deciding to counter the opposition's allegations against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Making it evident that there will be no resignations, the meeting of BJP-led NDA discussed how to counter the opposition attack in Parliament during the session beginning on Tuesday.
The Congress is demanding resignation of Swaraj and Raje over their links with former IPL chief Lalit Modi. HRD Minister Smriti Irani's ouster is being demanded in a case of alleged false claim over education. Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, is under fire over Vyapam scam while Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh is being targeted over rice scam.
Swaraj on Monday expressed her desire to speak on the Lalit Modi controversy. The government said if needed Swaraj would get a permission to speak in her defence.
According to sources, NDA has decided to raise corruption issues in Himachal Pradesh and Goa to counter Congress.
The sources have also said that Trinamool Congress is not interested in raising Sushma issue in Parliament. Their main focus will be on the contentious Land Acquisition Bill.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed to all the parties to utilise Parliament for discussing issues and said running both the Houses is a "shared responsibility of all".
He also exhorted them to move forward collectively on the contentious Land bill, which has got stuck because of stiff opposition by various parties.
