OROP, Patel agitation to top agenda at 3-day BJP-RSS meet
A three-day meeting between the BJP and the RSS is set to begin in the national capital on Wednesday.

A three-day meeting between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to begin in the national capital on Wednesday.

The upcoming Bihar elections, the standoff over the One Rank One Pension scheme and the Patel reservation protests in Gujarat are expected to top the agenda.

According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may also attend the event.

Meanwhile, reports said that the meeting may also take stock of one year of the Narendra Modi government in the office.

The top brass of the BJP and the RSS is also likely to discuss a recent statement by Vice President Hamid Ansari, seeking affirmative action from the government, which espouses the policy of growth for all. According to the Vice President, security, education and empowerment in decision making are the principal problems confronting India's Muslims.

Notably, the RSS had RSS had slammed the Vice President saying that if Muslims want to be treated equally, they should demand equal laws first. "I found Ansari's comment bizarre. if they want equality, they should ask for similar laws first and government does development for everyone but first of all, Muslims should support the government," senior RSS leader MG Vaidya had said.

The meeting comes at a point when the BJP is facing a struggle in one of its strongholds, Gujarat, in the wake of the Patel agitation for reservation. The state has witnessed incidents of violence, claiming at least 10 lives.

The Central government is also in the line of fire over the implementation of One Rank One Pension scheme for ex-servicemen, who have been protesting in the national capital for over 80 days.
