New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Saturday listed efforts made by the Narendra Modi government for safety and security of the nation while claiming the number of ceasefire violations have also gone down during the NDA regime.
Shah said, "Pakistan ke yahan se goli aati hai, yahan se gola jata hai (Pakistan fires bullets, we send bombs to them). Earlier, Pakistan used to start firing and they used to stop it, but now Pakistan starts firing and India ends it."
He also accused the UPA for not doing enough for the defence forces while addressing an election rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Saturday.
BJP's three new chief ministers - Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), Raghubar Das (Jharkhand) and Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana) - also addressed the rally along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After a stunning performance in 2014 both in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, Shah said the 'vijay rath' of the BJP had come to Delhi. All the three Chief Ministers appealed to people to vote for the party, for development and for good governance. Fadnavis said, "Jo Modi ke sath jaenge, woh vikas paenge. Main Mumbai ko badal kar rahunga, aap Delhi badaliye (Those who will support Modi, will witness development. I will change Mumbai, you (people) change Delhi)."
Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Piyush Goyal and Harsh Vardhan were also present at the venue and listed NDA's achievements and plans. Power Minister Piyush Goyal said, "The government will replace street lights with LED lights and 5 lakh street lights will be changed in one month. Faulty transformers are being changed and there will be no fuel surcharge."
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu accused the Congress of stalling Rajya Sabha where the BJP does not have the numbers. "There is no talk-out, walk-out but only break-out by Congress and now they will be all-out." Shah concluded his speech by saying, "If Delhi does not change, then there is no meaning of development."
