People in ATM Queues Will Line up to Vote Against BJP in UP: Akhilesh
Akhilesh stated that he was "eagerly" waiting for the state Assembly polls as "people of Uttar Pradesh will once again (stand in) queues, and vote against the BJP for giving them the pain (through demonetisation)".

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said he is eagerly waiting for the Assembly polls as people who are now queueing outside ATMs will "queue-up once again to vote against the BJP".

"The Prime Minister's demonetisation move was without any planning. Everyone wants black-money to end but where is the money that should be in the market? People are still standing in queues. Poor labourers are unemployed and farmers are facing problems. This is a conspiracy against the people," he said here.

Akhilesh stated that he was "eagerly" waiting for the state Assembly polls as "people of Uttar Pradesh will once again (stand in) queues, and vote against the BJP for giving them the pain (through demonetisation)".

He said three arguments were given in support of demonetisation-- it will help fight black money, counterfeit currency and corruption.

"But you are mistaken. You (Prime Minister) said deposit Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in banks and everyone did so. But you did not check which notes were being deposited. All of them went to the bank," Akhilesh said.

Akhilesh said he wanted to know from the Centre what preparations had been made to facilitate cashless transactions.

"Where is the internet? If BJP wants a cashless economy, it should have distributed smart-phones for free as we (the SP) has planned," he added.
