New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address may soon be 7, Ekatma Marg - and not 7, Race Course Road as it's now called.
That is, if the New Delhi Municipal Council(NDMC) accepts Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Meenakshi Lekhi's suggestion to change the name of the street where he lives to Ekatma Marg.
Lekhi has written to the government saying it should called Ekatma Marg to project the ideal of one nation and integral humanism, the philosophy propounded by the BJP's icon Deen Dayal Upadhyaya whose birth centenary is being celebrated this year.
"The highest office, the PM, has taken into account these ideals. And Ekatma represents this. He has followed a path of principles which will now reflect in this new name," Lekhi said.
She also added that the present name - Race Course Road - does not suit the culture of the country.
The area comes under the NDMC which is meeting on Wednesday evening to take a call on Lekhi's suggestion.
The NDMC is headed by Arvind Kejriwal, but since the Delhi Chief Minister cannot attend because he is undergoing medical treatment, Lekhi will chair the meet. It's likely to be smooth sailing . anyone's guess.
